Spears was only 17 when she reached #1 on the U.S. pop music charts with her 1999 debut album ...Baby One More Time. Spears married Kevin Federline, a professional dancer, in 2004. Bruce - Lee

celebrities the stories and the gossips:

"In 1959 a short, skinny, bespectacled 18-year-old kid from Hong Kong traveled to America and declared himself to be John Wayne, James Dean, Charles Atlas and the guy who kicked your butt in junior high.
In an America where the Chinese were still stereotyped as meek house servants and railroad workers, Bruce Lee was all steely sinew, threatening stare and cocky, pointed finger — a Clark Kent who didn't need to change outfits. He was the redeemer, not only for the Chinese but for all the geeks and dorks and pimpled teenage masses that washed up at the theaters to see his action movies. He was David, with spin-kicks and flying leaps more captivating than any slingshot."

It took them just 22.4 overs to knock off the runs after Hogg (3-17) had helped dismiss Bangladesh for 124."

India to face England in opener

India Cricket Match Test ODI News Indian Cricket News Photos Indian Cricket Team:

"India will take on England in their opening match on October 15 at Jaipur in the ICC Champions Trophy to be played later this year. India and England have been drawn in Group A, a section which also features the three-time World Champions Australia and one qualifier. Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand and another qualifying team from Group B. Despite being the holders, West Indies are one of four teams who will take part in a preliminary round-robin which starts on October 7 and will be played at all four of the venues. West Indies must take part in this stage because they are outside the top six teams in the ICC one-day rankings; Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh are the other three sides. The two best teams from the preliminary rounds will go through to the second stage. All matches will be day-nighters, with the two semi-finals to be played at Mohali on November 1 and Jaipur on November 2. The final will then be played at Mumbai on November 5."

Robin Singh looking for more consistency from players

India vs Pakistan - EurAsia Cricket Series, Abu Dhabi:

"Former Indian player Robin Singh, better known for his exploits as a one-day specialist and currently coach of the India A team, has said he wants consistency from his young and promising squad.
India A have already registered a smart win against The Netherlands but their big group match is tomorrow against Pakistan in the EurAsia cup series.
Singh saw his boys have a two-hour session yesterday morning at the Zayed Cricket Stadium. Unlike India A teams of the past, this side does not have too many veterans seeking a comeback.
Most of them are promising youngsters who have already had a taste of the pressures at the highest level. With names like skipper Venugopal Rao, Robin Uthappa, R.P Singh, VRV Singh, Dinesh Karthick all having played in the recent series against England this India A side is pretty strong. "

BCCI may scrap annual elections

Board of Control for Cricket in India - India Cricket News & Photos Latest Cricket News:

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to do away with annual elections and introduce a system whereby polls will be held once every three years. This is part of the Board's effort to usher in constitutional reforms and ensure transparency in its working.
The BCCI constitution review committee, which meets in Mumbai on Friday, will discuss a slew of proposals to improve the cricket control body's functioning and electoral reforms will figure prominently. Most BCCI members are in principle favourably inclined towards such a proposal, sources say. For, a fixed three-year term would enable office-bearers to concentrate fully on administration without having to worry about winning annual elections. "

Earlier, Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting won the toss for the first time in the ongoing tour and opted to bat first Wednesday without any hesitation. Middle order batsman Andrew Symonds and Michael Clarke made a record 140-run 4th wicket stand to guide the Australian side to post 250 runs for 5 in 50 overs."

Sunil Gavaskar

India Pakistan Cricket Match News - India Pakistan Cricket News & Photos ~ Latest Cricket News Headings, Scores Updated Daily. Live News ~ Deepthi.com:

"Sunil Gavaskar was one of the greatest opening batsmen of all time, and certainly the most successful. His game was built around a near perfect technique and enormous powers of concentration. It is hard to visualise a more beautiful defence: virtually unbreachable, it made his wicket among the hardest to earn. He played with equal felicity off both front and back foot, had an excellent judgement of length and line and was beautifully balanced. He had virtually every stroke in the book but traded flair for the solidity his side needed more. He still holds the record for the highest number of Test hundreds, but statistics alone don't reveal Gavaskar's true value to India. He earned respect for Indian cricket and he taught his team-mates the virtue of professionalism. The self-actualisation of Indian cricket began under him.

Kapil Dev

India Pakistan Cricket Match News - India Pakistan Cricket News & Photos ~ Latest Cricket News Headings, Scores Updated Daily. Live News ~ Deepthi.com:

"Kapil Dev was the greatest pace bowler India has produced, and their greatest fast-bowling allrounder. If he had played at any other time - not when Imran Khan, Ian Botham and Richard Hadlee were contemporaries - he would surely have been recognised as the best allrounder in the world. In any case he did enough to be voted India's Cricketer of the Century during 2002. His greatest feats were to lead India almost jauntily, and by his allround example, to the 1983 World Cup, and to take the world-record aggregate of Test wickets from Hadlee. It was the stamina of the marathon runner that took him finally to 431 wickets and only a yard beyond. He might not have been quite the bowling equal of Imran, Hadlee or Botham at his best, and his strike rate was less than four wickets per Test. But he was still outstanding in his accuracy and ability to swing the ball, usually away from right-handers. And he could hit a ball even more brilliantly than he bowled it, with uncomplicated flair."

Supergirl : Comics SuperHeroes Cartoons

Superboy & Supergirl : Comics SuperHeroes Cartoons:

"Supergirl is a DC Comics superhero, generally considered the female counterpart to Superman. Created by Otto Binder (who created Captain Marvel's female counterpart Mary Marvel) and Al Plastino, she first appeared in Superman #123 (1958).
Due to a somewhat disjointed continuity, several different versions of Supergirl have appeared in comic books throughout the years. However, the most well-known incarnation is Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, also sent to Earth when their home planet Krypton was destroyed. Like her cousin, Kara can fly and possesses superhuman strength and abilities, and has a civilian identity to allow her to live amongst humans (that of Linda Lee). "

Superboy & Supergirl : Comics SuperHeroes Cartoons

Superboy & Supergirl : Comics SuperHeroes Cartoons:

"Superboy was originally simply Superman as a youth, and was essentially treated as a junior version of Superman. To that end, Superboy wore the Superman costume and his alter ego Clark Kent wore glasses as a disguise for his civilian identity. The character was created without the permission of Superman's creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, a fact which increased an already-growing rift between them and the publisher, DC Comics. "

ICC World Cup Cricket - History

Cricket World Cup 2007 - India ICC Cricket World Cup History, Champions, News & Photos:

"The Cricket World Cup was first held in 1975 in England, with eight teams participating: Australia, England, the West Indies, Pakistan, India, and New Zealand (the six Test nations at the time), with Sri Lanka and a composite team from East Africa.
The first three tournaments were held in England. N. K. P. Salve, President of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) recounts the awarding of hosting rights for the 1987 World Cup in his book The Story of the Reliance Cup. According to Salve, he was given two tickets for the 1983 World Cup final at Lord's. When India unexpectedly qualified for the final, he requested two additional tickets from the MCC for friends who had just arrived from India. The MCC refused his request. Following this rebuff, Salve campaigned heavily amongst associate members of the International Cricket Council to form a bloc of voters, who ultimately awarded the hosting of the 1987 World Cup jointly to India and Pakistan.
Since 1987, the hosting of the World Cup been shared by the major cricket playing regions of the world - England, the Indian subcontinent, Australasia, Southern Africa and the West Indies. The tournaments have been based mainly in the local superpowers, though matches are held in all regional cricketing nations. "

Bangladesh - who had hoped to repeat last year's shock win over Australia at Cardiff, Wales - lost the first one-day match on Sunday by four wickets, after being bowled out for a paltry 195 runs in 47 overs. But Australia had to fight hard for 44 overs to reach the winning target of 196 - losing six wickets. Bangladesh will play the second one-day international against Australia today without ace batsman Mohammad Ashraful. "

Vivek Oberoi - Bollywood celebrities the stories and the gossips

Vivek Oberoi - Bollywood celebrities the stories and the gossips:

"Son of veteran actor Suresh Oberoi was born on September 3, 1976. Vivek Oberoi was the most talked about lad in town long before Company released. The media went berserk describing his straight hair, sparkling eyes, handsome body and what not. What's more he chose to make an unusual debut. Ramgopal Varma's Company was not the typical Hindi film. And Vivek was not playing a hero, he was Chandu the dreaded underworld don. The film focussed on international organised crime giving the heroes Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi enough platform to prove their histrionics as actors. Vivek has adopted the Aamir Khan strategy where he would do just a few quality films at a time. So far the strategy has proven quite beneficial to him personaly although he still has to deliver his universal 'solo' hit! For his first film, Ram Gopal Varma's Company (2003), Vivek Oberoi won the 'best debut actor award' and also won 'best supporting actor'. He was pitted against Bollywood star Ajay Devgan and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. "

Fifa World Cup History

Fifa World Cup:

"The World Cup was not the first international football competition. Amateur football became a part of the official Olympic programme for the first time in 1908 (See: Football at the 1908 Summer Olympics). In Turin in 1909, in what is sometimes described as The First World Cup, Sir Thomas Lipton organised a football tournament to contest the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy. Italy, Germany and Switzerland sent their most prestigious professional club sides to the competition but The Football Association of England refused to be associated with it and declined the offer to send a team. Not wishing to have Britain unrepresented in the competition, Lipton invited West Auckland FC, an amateur side from the north-east of England and mostly made up of coal miners, to take part. West Auckland won the tournament and returned to Italy in 1911 to defend their title."

In the meantime, Boro have recalled fellow keeper Ross Turnbull from his loan spell at Championship side Crewe. "

Superman

Superman : Comics SuperHeroes Cartoons:

"Superman, aka 'the Man of Steel', is a fictional character and superhero who first appeared in Action Comics #1 in 1938, and for several decades has been one of the most popular and well-known comic book icons of all-time.
The character, created by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel for National Comics (today DC Comics), subsequently appeared in various radio serials, television programs, films, and video games. Superman was born Kal-El on the planet Krypton and, as an infant, was rocketed to Earth by Jor-El, his scientist father, moments before Krypton exploded. The rocket landed on Earth outside the town of Smallville, where young Kal-El was discovered and adopted by the amiable Jonathan and Martha Kent. As he grew, he discovered that he possessed powers far beyond those of mortal men. When not fighting the forces of evil as Superman, he lives amongst humanity as Clark Kent, a 'mild-mannered reporter' for the Daily Planet. Clark works alongside reporter Lois Lane, with whom he is romantically involved. In current comics continuity, they are married, however, the character has had several other relationships throughout his years in comics. The character's adventures are today published in a number of comic books."

"Superman (1940s cartoons)
Between 1941 and 1943, Paramount Pictures released a series of animated Technicolor cartoons based upon the comic book character Superman. The first nine cartoons were produced by Fleischer Studios; in 1942, Fleischer Studios was dissolved and reorganized as Famous Studios, which produced the final eight shorts. These cartoons are seen as some of the finest, and certainly the most lavishly budgeted, animated cartoons produced during The Golden Age of American animation.
Superman and the Mole Men
Superman and the Mole Men is a 1951 black and white film starring George Reeves as Superman and Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane. It was produced by Barney Sarecky, directed by Lee Sholem with the original screenplay by Richard Fielding. It was 58 minutes long and served as a trial run for the syndicated TV series. Mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent and Lois Lane are sent to the small town of Silsby for the inauguration of the world's deepest oil well. Unbeknownst to the drillers, however, the drill shaft has penetrated the underground home of the Mole Men, a race of small, furry beings. The Mole Men come up through the shaft at night to explore the surface. Their eyes, however, glow in the dark, presumably an adaptation for an subterranian existence. This scares the townspeople into forming an angry mob, led by the violent Luke Benson"

"Tweety (also known as Tweety Pie or Tweety Bird) is a fictional character in the Warner Bros. Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of animated cartoons. Tweety's popularity, like that of The Tasmanian Devil, actually grew in the years following the dissolution of the Looney Tunes cartoons. Today Tweety is considered, along with Taz and Bugs Bunny, among the most popular of the Looney Tunes characters, especially (because of his 'cute' appearance and personality) among girls and young women. Despite widespread speculation that he was female, Tweety is and has always been a male character.
Bob Clampett created the character that would become Tweety in the 1942 short A Tale of Two Kitties, pitting him against two hungry cats named Babbit and Catstello (based on the famous comedians Abbott and Costello). She is a wizard, the daughter of two other wizards, and shares the family's inherent ability to cast powerful spells; like her father, Golden Age magician John Zatara, she does this by describing the desired effect in backwards speech

As well as being an illusionist, Zatara also had genuine magical powers, which he focused through speaking backwards: he could do anything so long as he could describe it in sdrawkcab hceeps ('backwards speech', spelled backwards). This helped distinguish Zatara from the numerous Mandrake the Magician knockoffs that cluttered the comics and pulp magazines of the day.
His love of magic began early when he was given a magic kit by his uncle, himself a professional illusionist. Although he began learning the craft in childhood, his early attempts at performing professionally were unsuccessful until he realized that he needed to work on his showmanship.
To that end, he dug up old diaries of Leonardo Da Vinci, who was a direct ancestor. While reading the diaries, which Da Vinci wrote in backwards spelling as a security precaution, Zatara learned that his family had the command of magic. He discovered this inadvertently when he accidentally gave a command to a mannequin to begin waving an arm wildly. Zatara realized that he could command it to stop by giving the order in backwards spelling. "

Ziggy

Ziggy : Comics SuperHeroes Cartoons:

"Ziggy is a single panel comic strip created by Tom Wilson, an American Greetings executive.
Ziggy is a small, cute, bald, pantsless, almost featureless character who seems to have no job, hobbies, or girlfriend, just a menagerie of cute pets: Fuzz, a small white dog, Sid, a cat afraid of mice, Josh, a discouraging parrot, Goldie, a fish, and Wack, a duck. The intense cuteness of the cast is juxtaposed with the endless stream of misfortunes which befall Ziggy. It is perhaps this combination of iconic cuteness and identifiable misery which makes this strip so popular despite its lack of plots and a human cast.
Ziggy first appeared in the 1968 collection When You're Not Around, published by American Greetings. The newspaper strip began in June 1971. In 1987 the strip was taken over by Tom Wilson II. "

India "reveal ICC Trophy venues"

Board of Control for Cricket in India - India Cricket News & Photos Latest Cricket News:

"India say they have won the right to stage this autumn's ICC Champions Trophy at four different venues, rather than the usual three allowed.
Cricket chiefs in India want to use Mumbai's smaller Brabourne stadium, plus the regular international grounds in Ahmedabad, Mohali and Jaipur.
AFP news agency claimed India had agreed to pay £115,000 compensation to the International Cricket Council. The tournament takes place over four weeks from 7 October.
India are trying to avoid areas which might get seasonal rain at that time of year. England will have little time to recover from their summer season before it begins, and they start their Ashes tour days after it finishes.
The final programme for the tournament, which the ICC uses to raise funds for developmental activities, will be unveiled in New Delhi on 27 April. England, beaten finalists in 2004, must finish above either Australia or India in their group to make the semi-finals. "

Main characters included:
Jenny, a sensitive teenage girl from our world.
Her older brother, Butch, who gets turned into a chimp on Zot's world.
Zachary T. Paleozogt, known as Zot, a blond haired, blue eyed hero from an alternate Earth who flies via rocket boots and fights villains with a ten-shooter laser gun. Zot's Earth shares certain elements with ours, but its futuristic technology is reminiscent of Golden Age SF.
Zot's Uncle Max, an eccentric inventor whose gadgets helped Zot fight crime.
Peabody, Zot's robot butler/guardian.
The comic has long been out of print. It was reprinted in several volumes: Book One (ISBN 0878164278), which collected issues 1-10; Book 2 (ISBN 0878164286), which collected issues 11-15 and 17-18; and Book 3 (ISBN 0878164294) which collected issues 16 and 21-27. Book 4, collecting the 'real world arc' of issues 28-36, was to have been published by Kitchen Sink Press, but was a casualty of that company's turmoil. "

Yuvraj and Pathan shape India's win over England

India Cricket Match Test ODI News Indian Cricket News Photos Indian Cricket Team:

"The 24-year-old Yuvraj struck three sixes and 10 fours in his 76-ball 103, his seventh hundred in one-dayers, as India posted a challenging 294-6 before restricting England to 245 in hot and humid conditions on Monday.
England all-rounder Paul Collingwood gave a good account of himself, top-scoring with a brave 84-ball 93 which included one six and 10 fours. He put on 105 for the seventh wicket with Geraint Jones (32), but the stand came too late to stop India from gaining a 3-0 lead in the seven-match series. England were virtually out of the game when they lost six wickets for 100, but Collingwood and Jones defied the Indian attack with their responsible knocks under pressure.
Pathan removed Andrew Strauss (seven), Owais Shah (seven) and Ian Blackwell (nine), who was promoted in the batting order, with clever variations in pace. "
